Strava and Gymrock are not really competitors, and a comparison page that pretended otherwise would be doing you a disservice. But people do ask "can I use Strava for lifting," so here is the straight answer.

What Strava is

Strava is a GPS endurance tracker wrapped in the best social graph in fitness — segments, leaderboards, clubs, kudos, challenges, and a community measured in the hundreds of millions of athletes. If you run or ride, it is close to essential, and the network effect is the product. It acquired Runna in 2025, adding structured endurance coaching plans.

What Strava is not

It is not a lifting app

You can record a "Weight Training" activity. It will store a duration and a heart-rate trace. It will not store which exercises you did, at what load, for how many reps, at what RPE.

Which means none of the things that actually drive strength progress — progressive overload, volume management, load progression — are trackable. Your bench press going from 80 kg to 100 kg over six months is, to Strava, a series of 50-minute activities.

It has no food log

Strava estimates calories burned. It has no idea what you ate. So the entire nutrition half of training is absent, and with it any possibility of connecting intake to training load.

Where Gymrock is different

Gymrock is a strength and nutrition product. It logs your sets, reps, loads and RPE in-session; it logs your food by photo or barcode; and one model reads both, plus recovery signals, to send a single weekly call every Monday at 7 a.m.

What Gymrock does not have is Strava's community. That is a real gap and we are not going to hand-wave it — if the kudos and the segment leaderboards are what get you out the door, that is a legitimate reason to keep Strava in your life.

The honest recommendation: use both

If you run and lift, the sensible stack is Strava for the endurance work and its community, and Gymrock for the barbell work and the nutrition. They do not overlap enough to conflict.

If you only lift, Strava is not the tool, and no subscription tier will change that.
